Premera Medicare Advantage

Premera Medicare Advantage Plans

Premera is a subsidiary company of Blue Cross Blue Shield Company, with residents based in the states of Washington and Alaska being the most beneficiaries. It is a Medicare Advantage Plan that offers alternative plans from the Original Medicare.

It also offers Medicare Advantage Plans to eligible individuals who have Medicare part A and Part B and have attained the age of 65 years; there is an exemption to those people with disabilities or some diseases such as end-stage renal failure.

With a Premera healthcare cover, there is a high possibility that you will get high coverage at an affordable price and, at the same time, get one of the best deals you can find around in terms of coverage. The company has joined hands with several hospitals and other healthcare facilities, including private doctors, to take care of their members with the available plans. Since all Medicare Plans operate within given network areas, Premera Medicare Advantage is not an exception, and there is a need for a senior to confirm the options that it provides before signing up for the plan.

Premera’s Different Advantage Plans

Premera Medicare Advantage has excellent advantage plan choices that go hand in hand with what the guidelines relating to a MA plan should follow.

The first plan is the Basic Advantage Plan, which caters to those expenses offered by Medicare Part A and Part B except for hospice care. This is a minimum coverage that takes care of costs such as nursing care, at-home-care, urgent care, emergency medical care, hospital stays, among others.

There is the Premera’s high Advantage Plan, with extra benefits, but this will be dependent on the coverage plan that you decide to use. Some of these benefits include routine checkups, hearing aids, vision aids that include getting a pair of new eyeglasses, among others. These added benefits are put in place to ensure that seniors who access them remain on top when their health concerns are raised.

Medicare Part D drug plan is also another extensive coverage that is offered under the Medicare Advantage plan, either as an inbuilt plan or a separate one.  You can decide to pick any of them depending on how often you will need the prescription services. All in all, this is a plan that any senior should consider having taking into account that they are aging, and they require frequent doctors’ visits, which will call for prescriptions.

It is also a good plan in terms of saving because one can use as little as$1 per every refill and be able to access generic and most of the branded drugs from the most reputable pharmacies around.

Enrolling in Medicare Advantage with Premera

The main factor that determines your eligibility is attaining the age of 65 years.

There are those with disabilities that are exempted from this age and are allowed to sign up 24 months earlier.

Once you qualify to enroll with Premera Medicare Advantage, the next phase is enrolling for the plan. This can be done during two enrolment periods; the Initial Enrolment Period and the Annual Enrolment period.

The Initial Enrollment period takes place three months before turning 65 and ends there months later after your 65th birthday. During this period, one is given an automatic qualification in the event of a preexisting condition.

The next one is the Annual enrollment period that starts on October 15th and ends on December 7th.  You still enroll during this time, but there is no guarantee that you will be approved for the preexisting condition. You will also be charged for late enrollment, it’s, therefore, advisable for any senior to enroll as soon as you attain the eligibility age and avoid such penalties.

Remember that you cannot sign for Premera Medicare Advantage Plan if you have an overlapping plan such as the supplements Plan.  The only option here is to drop from the supplement plan and sign up for the Advantage Plan.

Our website has all this information, and you can use it to understand how the plans work even as you make an informed decision on the same. You can call us too for further clarification, and we will help you to our level best and ensure you get the real value for your money.

The Network Premera Offers

Being a subsidiary of Blue Cross, Premera is one of the companies that you will expect to have wide network coverage in most of the states across Washington and Alaska.

Since the states are widespread, the best option that works out well here is the PPO plans. You will be accepted in the network panel, and also outside the plans even for that provider who does not have a contract with Premera.

However, this is done on a partial basis. You can have a look at the prices that PPO plans offer  even as you make comparisons, though’ PPO plans are way too expensive compared to HMO plans.

However, if you are living in an area where network challenge is wanting, we would advise that you get the plan rather than paying all your medical costs from your pockets. It is emotionally and financially draining, and you may live a depressed life due to substantial medical expenses.

However, if you live in an urban area where the network is comprehensive, an HMO plan is the best option, with an assurance that you will be covered fully for the plan. Your out of pocket expenses will be drastically reduced. Therefore, as you settle for any of the Premera Medicare Advantage Plans, factor in where you live and make a decision on the best option that will work for you. Either of them are great plans, but your needs will determine the best to enroll with,

Why Premera Might Be a Good Choice

Several factors determine how good a plan could be; some of them include the pricing, reputation of the company, stability, and network coverage.  With Premera, you rest assured that you are in safe hands for the next healthcare year. Blue Cross Blue Shield is known for offering quality services to its members, providing comprehensive coverage of plans and having the customers interest at heart,

This can be achieved by analyzing these factors. Our site will help you get the quotes, and analyze which amongst the plans that Premera is offering will work out well for you. On the same note, their customer reviews are rated high as well, and this is a sign to prove that customers who have used Premera in the past were happy about the services they received from them. Do not settle for a low rated company to save money. You might end up getting distressed and add more health problems to the already existing, if any.

Premera rates are also competitive and have remained low for as long as it has been in existence. Bearing that all these factors speak for Premera, then we would say that it can be a good choice for seniors living in the Alaska and Washington areas.  If you would want to know more about Premera, feel free to call us, and we will offer solutions to any troubling question.
