Medicare Advantage Plans for 2021
If it is time for you to upgrade your health plan and choose a policy that can give you more coverage, then you might want to look into some of the Medicare Advantage plans for 2021. Although Original Medicare can work well in covering your healthcare expenses, it is not always enough to save you from paying high out-of-pocket expenses. For that reason, if you wish to find a complete health plan, consider getting one of the MA plans.
Medicare Advantage, per se, is a high coverage plan that can give you comprehensive protection against high healthcare expenses. When you have this type of plan, you may no longer have to pay each time you visit your doctor or hospital. Depending on the plan you have, your policy may cover ER care, ambulance transportation, and urgently needed medical care services. These coverage items are all possible when you have an MA plan.

What are the Types of Medicare Advantage?
Medicare Advantage is not one standard policy. Rather, you can find different plans to choose from. They are divided into two categories. The first one is a plan with drug coverage. And the other type comes with no coverage for prescription medicines.
Prescription drugs are vital to many seniors. For that reason, they always consider a plan with a drug prescription program. However, the basic Advantage plan does not include coverage for prescription drugs. But the more comprehensive plans can have Medicare Part D or drug prescription plan.

Not all Medicare Advantage plans include coverage for Part D. But the plans that include Part D will give seniors coverage for generic and brand name medicines. They also offer insurance benefits on common, cheap drugs. But they give less coverage for those rare, most responsive drugs. It is common to find an MA plan with Part D in the name.
On top of Part D coverage, you can find plans that include coverage for emergency room care. They can also cover urgently needed medical care and expenses related to Parts A and B. It is the basic coverage for each Advantage plan. With this type of plan, you will get insurance protection against the overall cost of emergency healthcare treatment and urgently needed service. Then, you can give coverage for Medicare Part A and B benefits. These items are all required by Medicare to be offered as basic coverage. It means that no matter what kind of plan you have, you will get guaranteed coverage.
Other MA plans will cover you for regular checkups with your orthodontist, optometrist, and hearing specialist, among others. You could also get covered for checkups per year or multiple checkups in a year. The number of times being covered will depend on the kind of plan you have. Some insurance companies will provide different plans with various routing checkup coverage. The coverage takes care of the overall cost of getting a new pair of glasses or hearing aids.

How to Obtain Medicare Advantage?
Before you qualify for one of the Medicare Advantage plans for 2021, you must first have an active Original Medicare. Not all seniors can obtain one of these high-coverage insurance plans. There are some requirements that you must meet before you attempt to apply:
- At least 65 years old
- US citizen or green card holder
- Basic Medicare policy
But there are exemptions in these rules. For example, if you are not 65 years old but you have a disability, then you may enroll in one of the MA plans. However, if you are not sure if you qualify, you may talk to our health insurance experts. We can assist you in figuring out your qualifications. In that way, you can avoid applying not knowing that you are not eligible for the plans.

You may enroll in the basic Medicare Advantage plan and Original Medicare at the same time. Medicare Advantage plans will replace most of the basic coverage of Original Medicare. However, you will still need a basic plan because some benefits will be taken from there.
Upon enrollment and acceptance, the provider of your Advantage plan will be giving you the basic Medicare benefits. You will get your Part A and Part B benefits from your new provider.
But if you have another health plan, it may not be compatible with Medicare Advantage. For instance, if you a Medicare Supplement plan, you cannot enroll in one of MA plans unless you drop the MS.
The reason for this is that MS and MA plans overlap. Medicare does not allow you to pay for the same coverage at the same time. You need to choose one over the other.
If you are not sure whether or not your current health plan will overlap, make sure to contact us to help you evaluate your situation.
