Aetna has plenty of choices, and any senior is at liberty to make a decision based on what he would want at any particular time.

We have one of the top-selling plans, well known as plan G, and as 2021 draws close, the plan remains relevant and topmost. Plan G ensures that one is covered for literally all the supplemental expenses. These include copayments for Medicare Part A and part B, excess charges for outpatient care services, 80% of the foreign travel costs related to health care, hospice care and nursing care. It also ensures that one is covered for three pints of blood on an annual; basis, which is not available under Original Medicare.

Plan G is, therefore, a comprehensive coverage plan and is more appropriate to those seniors who like having a wholesome coverage regardless of their medical condition.

The other Plan is Plan N, which still covers for all the costs associated with Medicare Part A copayments and some of Part B copayments.  The additional coverage includes 80% of the foreign travel costs, three pints of blood per year, hospice coverage, Part A deductibles, among others.

The main difference between plan G and Plan N is that   Plan N is more economical and maximizes on specific coverage. This makes it cheaper than plan G. However, it is excellent for most of the basic coverage plans and more so for people who need the plans in a more specific manner. Those who work on a strict budget as fit well in Plan N.

Plan F is another plan under Medicare Supplements plan which offers full coverage as opposed to Plan N and Plan G. However, this applies to those people who had subscribed for it before it was delisted and as such, not accessible in planning for 2021.  For those who had the plan, they still are at liberty to keep renewing it and enjoy affordable prices in addition to a full Medicare Supplement plan coverage.

Who Can Sign Up for Aetna’s Supplement?

Aetna Supplement is guided by the rules that govern Medicare Supplement Plans, and since it is reserved for seniors, the first requirement is the age eligibility. One must have attained 65 years to access the plan and must be enrolled with Medicare.

There are, however, some exceptions meant for people with an underlying medical conditions or disability.

Once you qualify for this eligibility, then you can sign up for the plan during two periods. The first one is the Initial Enrollment Period which starts three months before your 65th birthday and ends three months later. When you sign up during this time, you stand to enjoy benefits such as an automatic approval for preexisting conditions.

The other period is called the Annual Enrollment Period, which starts on October 7th and ends on December 15th. If you have a preexisting condition, you may be subjected to a higher payment or the condition may not be approved at all. You will also be required to pay the late enrollment fee, which stays for a lifetime. It’s therefore essential to sign up during the Initial Enrollment Period and avoid such inconveniences.

Supplement plans have a one-year full coverage which is renewable, and you get to have a peace of mind in knowing that your health concerns are sorted.
